Utkarsh Cabs ("we", "us", "our") operates the Utkarsh Cabs booking platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or booking a ride, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

• Account details — your name, mobile number, email address, gender and (optionally) date of birth, provided when you register.
• Booking information — pickup and drop locations, stops, trip type, schedule, fare and payment status.
• Location data — approximate or precise device location when you grant permission, used to suggest nearby pickup points and show your trip on the map.
• Payment information — processed securely by our payment partner (Razorpay). We do not store your full card or UPI credentials on our servers.
• Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, and basic interaction logs used for security and to improve the service.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and verify your identity through email and mobile OTP.
• To accept, allocate, fulfil and invoice your bookings, and to connect you with a driver.
• To send service communications — booking confirmations, OTPs, receipts and ride updates — over the channels you consent to (SMS, WhatsApp, email or phone).
• To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
• To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.
• To comply with applicable Indian laws and lawful requests from authorities.

3. Sharing of information

We share information only as needed to run the service: with the assigned driver (your name, contact and trip details), with payment and communication providers acting on our behalf, and with authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Your consent & choices

During registration you choose how we may contact you. You can change these preferences at any time from your account settings. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us; deleting your account permanently deactivates it subject to records we must retain by law.

5. Data retention & security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as required for legal, tax and accounting purposes. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls and OTP-based verification — to protect your data. No method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Cookies & local storage

The app uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. These are necessary for core functionality.

7. Children

The service is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the app or by email. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.

9. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder, queries or grievances regarding your data may be addressed to our Grievance Officer at support@utkarshcabs.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Utkarsh Cabs platform and the booking of transport services through it. By creating an account or placing a booking, you accept these Terms in full.

1. The service

Utkarsh Cabs provides a technology platform that lets you book point-to-point, hourly, airport and intercity (Multi-Stop) cab journeys. We facilitate the booking and connect you with a driver; the transport itself is provided by the assigned driver/operator.

2. Eligibility & account

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
• You agree to provide accurate details and to keep your mobile number and email current, as they are used for OTP verification and trip communications.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep your device and login secure.

3. Bookings, fares & payment

• Fare estimates shown at booking are based on distance, duration, trip type and applicable charges, and may change if the route, stops, waiting time or schedule change.
• Tolls, parking, state permits, airport entry fees and similar levies may be added to the final fare where applicable.
• Payments are processed through our payment partner. You authorise us to charge the selected payment method for confirmed bookings and applicable fees.

4. Cancellations & no-shows

You may cancel a booking from the app. A cancellation fee may apply once a driver has been assigned or is en route, or for late cancellations. Repeated no-shows may lead to restrictions on your account.

5. Your responsibilities as a rider

• Be ready at the pickup point at the scheduled time and provide an accurate pickup location.
• Treat the driver and vehicle with respect; do not carry illegal goods, smoke, or cause damage.
• Wear seatbelts and comply with applicable safety and traffic rules.

6. Conduct & safety

We may suspend or terminate access for fraud, abuse, unlawful conduct, non-payment, or behaviour that endangers drivers or other users. Damage to a vehicle caused by a rider may be recovered.

7. Service availability

Bookings are subject to driver and vehicle availability in your area and at your chosen time. We do not guarantee that a ride will always be available, and journeys may be affected by traffic, weather or events beyond our control.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Utkarsh Cabs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from delays, cancellations, or matters outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Intellectual property

The Utkarsh Cabs name, logo, app and platform content are owned by us and protected by law. You may not copy, modify or redistribute them without permission.

10. Changes & governing law

We may revise these Terms from time to time; the latest version always applies. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
